Kellen’s Orbit

Kellen Dance Weaver was  born in Albuquerque, New Mexico on September 14, 1982 at Presbyterian Hospital.  Kellen died peacefully on July 28, 2015 in Albuquerque, the same town he was born in.  He was 32 years old.

He is survived by his beloved mother and father, Adrienne Braswell and Kevin Weaver.  He is also survived by his 2 children, Antonio David and Kiana Renée, as well as Nicole Romero, precious mother of his children; his stepmother, Nora Weaver; and his brother and sister, Wyatt and Emily, as well as Vivian Thompson, his “spirit mother.” He leaves behind a large community of families, an enormous beloved tribe of friends, Taos village sisters and brothers.

Kellen made friends wherever he resided.  He grew up primarily in Taos, New Mexico; Boerne, Texas; Longmont, Colorado; and Seattle, Washington.

Kellen was strong of mind, heart, soul and body.  He loved nature and was an accomplished fisherman, mostly taking his rod and lure to the Rio Grande.  Kellen was a thinker, a beautiful writer, a motivater for many.  Accompanying that beautiful, complex mind was a strong athlete, excelling at basketball and football in his earlier years and in his later years as a body builder.  He loved his 2 children with all his heart and was able to spend a great deal of quality time with them just before he passed away.

Kellen was recently on a cleaner and clearer path.  He had landed a dream job at Albuquerque Free Press as an Executive Sales Representative.  He was their top salesman and as happy as any man can be in a blossoming career.  He was excited to be in the company of journalists, and expressed hope in going back to school in preparation of eventually  moving from sales to journalism.  His life-long struggle with anxiety and insobriety was being replaced more and more by a strong AA support system.

Let it be known:  Kellen died sober and peacefully.  His heart, as many of his friends have said, was “too big for his body.”  We will miss him for his kindness, compassion, insight, spirit, humor and strength to carry on despite the adversity he faced.  Kellen is now at peace and free from pain and doubt, and lives on in his children, and through all the lives he touched.
